Meadowbrook Valentine’s Market

Enterprising Year 6 pupils at Meadowbrook Primary School launched their Valentine-themed ‘Meadowbrook Market’ this week, in a bid to raise nearly £1,000 needed for pay for the coach on their forthcoming Year 6 Camp.

Two classes of ten-and eleven-year-olds have been planning and preparing products for this market for several weeks. Each child was encouraged to come up with an idea for a hand-made Valentines gift, plus to make a prototype. The favourite ideas were selected and then small teams of children worked together to refine each item and work in a production line to produce large numbers of the products – to the standards needed.

After lots of hard work, Year 6’s were delighted to hold their first ‘Meadowbrook Market’ after school yesterday – at which the very reasonably-priced gifts sold like hotcakes! On offer were lovingly iced valentines biscuits, scented love bags, purses and phone socks, hand-made chocolates, beaded bookmarks, hand-made Valentines cards, ‘love bug’ lollies, love mugs, chocolate-covered marshmallow and more!

The Market continues after school today and again on Thursday, from 3.30pm to 4.15pm in the Rabbits and Foxes classrooms.

Well to all the children and the teachers involved. We look forward to bring you news of how much this fundraising initiative raises.
