Metrobus Construction Updates w/c 27th February

Hambrook Lane: Hambrook Lane linking Bradley Stoke to Winterbourne will be closed for one week in May/June for resurfacing and road marking

Bradley Stoke Way between Great Meadow and Great Stoke Roundabout: Work commences this week on the final section of Bradley Stoke Way to widen the eastern verge of carriageway in order to construct a Metrobus lane. The work will last approximately three months. The first three weeks will be spent removing soil and vegetation. To enable this there will be off-peak temporary traffic lights. The work will take place Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm. There will be occasional noise and vibration to nearby properties to lay and compact the new carriageway foundations.

A38 Filton Road: Work has commenced to build a bus stop and bus lane on A38 south of Aztec West roundabout. This is due to complete by end of March, weather permitting.

A4174 Between Hambrook and Wick Wick Roundabout: The bus lanes are currently coned off due to landscaping. Some surfacing work is still to be done between Bromley Heath and Wick Wick roundabouts where flat spots are holding water. The work will take three days to complete and will be carried out in March.

Emersons Way: Work starts soon on the new westbound MetroBus stop and will take eight weeks.

Coldharbour Lane/Stoke Lane: The work on Stoke Lane is due to complete early autumn and until then there will be narrow lanes with occasional short length, short term traffic lights for specific pieces of work. The shared footpath for cyclists and pedestrians on Stoke Lane will remain open. Work will start on 13th March to create the northbound MetroBus stops on Coldharbour Lane. This will involve closing the nearside northbound carriageway. The work is expected to finish around the middle of May.

Temporary traffic lights will be installed on UWE roundabout during late March for drainage work to take place. The junction to Wrights Way will be closed for three weeks from today (27th Feb). There is a short diversion through Lancelot Way.

Frenchay Park Road: Vegetation has been cleared to enable the road to be widened southbound on the approach to the Stoke Lane junction.

M32 Junction 3: Narrow lanes are in place at Junction 3 in both directions while we extend the existing bus lane as far as the railway bridge just south of junction 2. Average Speed Cameras will restrict speed to an average of 30 mph during the works. This is 10 mph slower than the normal speed restriction to protect workers. The narrow lanes will be removed week commencing 27th March and this will involve overnight closures of the M32 for five nights (Monday to Friday). Following this there will be further intermittent closures for signage, drainage, parapet terminals and commissioning. More details will be available nearer the time when exact dates are known.

M32 New Bus Only Junction: The narrow lanes and speed restrictions around the new Bus Only Junction have now been lifted. The Bus Only Junction has been cordoned off with cones for safety reasons. The work is due to complete March 2017.

Note: Highways England is replacing the central barrier on the M32 at Junction 2, Eastville viaduct. The work will start 20th March and last 11 weeks. This is not MetroBus works. For more details please contact: [email protected]
