New Buggy Walk for Bradley Stoke – Volunteers wanted
June 19th, 2014
Plans are afoot to develop buggy walks for new parents in the Bradley Stoke area. South Gloucestershire Walking for Health in and the Bradley Stoke Health Visitors are working together to create the free, led walks which will last for between 45 minutes and an hour. Walks finish with a cuppa and a chat.
Walking is a gentle, simple and effective form of exercise which can easily be built into a daily routine. Many parents feel that the social and emotional benefits of buggy walks are more important to them than the physical.
For the walks to happen we are looking for volunteers who would be able to attend walk leader training and be able to spare a couple of hours per month to help run the walks.
To encourage this we are inviting groups to apply for our Active Travel Grant of up to £500 to be used for any health improvement project. In exchange for the grant we require a volunteer to come on our free walk leader training and 10 sets of 3 Active Travel Questionnaires to be completed by members of your group.
