New Bus Route from 31st August – Reduced Rates through September

newbus routeA brand new bus route connecting Bradley Stoke, Little Stoke and Bristol City Centre, travelling via UWE s Frenchay Campus has been unveiled, along with a range of promotional ‘cut-price fares designed to get people to give it a go.

The X74 service starts on 31 August and will cut journey times from Bradley Stoke to Bristol City centre to as little as 34 minutes making bus travel even more attractive for local people.

To support the launch of the new route operators First West of England are offering the following reduced flat fares through September:

  • adults £1.50
  • children under 16 for 75p pence
  • students £1 for and those 16 and 21 – with photographic ID
  • also up to two children under five will continue to travel free with a fare paying adult.

The X74 runs via the M32 for much of its route, but also calls at UWE s Frenchay Campus before heading to Bradley Stoke s Willow Brook Centre (travelling along Gloucester Road North, Stoke Lane and Braydon Avenue).

Talking about the new service, and the cut price deal for those travelling during September, Simon Ford, commercial manager for First West of England, says: “This is a brand new service, which has been designed to appeal to those people in Bradley Stoke and Little Stoke who want quick, simple journeys to and from UWE s Frenchay Campus and Bristol City Centre.   We expect though that it will also appeal to those wishing to commute to places like Airbus, Rolls Royce and Royal Mail in North Bristol.   We hope it will prove popular.

“To support the introduction of the new route we are pleased to be able to run a special offer during September to try this new route. The standard single fare is £3.50 and the £1.50 special rate offers a substantial 57% saving, hopefully encouraging people to give the bus a go.  In the long term, commuters can benefit from travel for as little as £1.79* a day by buying our season tickets. We hope that by giving people the chance to try this new service they will see how quick and convenient it is and decide to use it on a regular basis. ”

The promotion of this service is supported by the Local Sustainable Transport Fund, to encourage people to try sustainable travel options. For more information on the project and help in planning your journey visit www.travelwest.info
