Raff’s Olaf Run – this Saturday 13th December

We were pleased to hear from local resident Andrew Buckle, who this weekend is setting off on an adventure to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West.  Do look out for him – he would love your support!

ANDREW’S STORY

I’ve been a fund raiser for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) for several years, playing a small part in enabling them to support families who are facing the unimaginable and helping to make the most of children’s short and precious lives.

Christmas time brings added poignancy to this cause and that’s why, in addition to other fund-raising activities, I have always participated in the annual ‘Santa on the Run’ event around Bristol Harbourside. Sadly, this year the constraints of a global pandemic have halted the annual Santa on the Run event and instead the fundraising team at CHSW have issued a new challenge, ‘Santa’s on the Run goes freestyle.  Well, I’m ready to rise to that challenge and I’m accompanied by my fun-loving six-year-old Labrador, Raff.

Raff’s Olaf RunSunday 13th December

Dressed in Santa-gear and pushing the 35kg Raff in his Dog-Hut on wheels, I’m planning to walk the 14-miles from my home in Hawkins Crescent, Bradley Stoke to the Children’s Hospice Southwest in Wraxhall.  We’ll set off at 9am, and when we get to there, Raff will change into his special Frozen Olaf costume and hopefully raise a smile with the children as he makes circuits around the hospice.

Of course, we want to raise more than a smile. Please click here to donate what you can via Just Giving to raise much needed funds during these difficult times.
