OSR Scouts brave storm Bert to clean up area in Stoke Gifford

On the morning of Saturday 23rd November at 9am members of the old school rooms gathered to do their annual clean up of the lane between Beaufort Crescent and Fabian Drive.

The weather forecast was heavy rain all day as the UK was being hit by storm Bert but the scouts were determined to get the job done as part of a new badge – The Earth Tribe Award which is about helping us understand more about protecting our world. Finding out how you can be a planet champion, plus tackling projects in the community.

Whilst the scouts worked there were several members of the public that passed and commented on what a great job the scouts were doing, two residents asked for contact details so they could write to the group scout leader and thank the scouts for all their hard work.

The weather was damp but not unbearable and the scouts kept good humour busy working away. The comments helped keep up morale and the a passerby left a box of Roses as a reward and thank you.

Once the scouts finished for the day the results looked great. They’ll need to finish it off on another session in the spring term but everyone was happy with their work.
