Patchway Students see their Art on Display

Patchway Coummity College A level students  had the thrill of seeing their work exhibited at The Mall Cribbs Causeway earlier this month.

Work from students on A level Art and A level Textiles courses was displayed in the centre of The Mall, leading to many compliments and questions from people taking time out from their shopping to admire the pieces on show.

Work included jewellery, bags, cushions, dresses, watercolours, computer based art, portraits, landscapes and also all of the sketchbooks, workbooks and evaluations explaining the creation of each piece.     Currys PC World also supported the school, so that art work not able to be exhibited could also be seen on a rolling digital display.

Comments in the visitor book included:

‘Fantastic! Well thought out work. Should be proud of your achievement. A credit to Patchway and Patchway schools.

‘Wow what great work. Such talent.

‘Amazing work, lots of time and hard work has gone into making inspiring pieces of art. Well done!

Headteacher Jane Millicent told us  “The students were so excited to have their work exhibited in a public space for the first time.   It was a fantastic opportunity for them to be able to demonstrate  their talent, hard work, and the exceptional quality of their art work to a wider audience.   It is wonderful to be able to show local people what young people in the area can achieve”.

During the same weekend, a textiles student at Patchway Community College won the Great John Lewis Sewing Bee Competition for a dress she designed then created with support of the John Lewis Haberdashery Department.

Patchway Community College is part of the Concorde Partnership offering a wide range of A level courses to students in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.   For further information on courses contact: [email protected] or check out our website at www.patchwaycc.com
