Run the Keynsham 10K in support of young people!

Fresh from their visit from The Duke and The Duchess of Sussex earlier this year, Empire Fighting Chance recently attended the ‘Made By Sport’ charity coalition, headed up by Prince Harry, and boxers Anthony Joshua and Nicola Adams.

The ‘Made By Sport’ initiative champions grassroots sport in the UK, over a four-year campaign, which sets out to raise 40m in funds to use sport to support young people across the UK.

Empire Fighting Chance is already one step ahead of this initiative, and last year they identified the Keynsham 10K as a great way to revive an important event in the Keynsham social calendar, as well as use the proceeds to fund their tireless work in transforming young lives in Bristol and beyond. The charity is renowned for its pioneering work that helps fight the impact of deprivation on young people, utilising a combination of non-impact boxing and intensive personal support to inspire young people to reach their full potential.

Over 640 people registered for the race last year, raising an incredible £5,000 for Empire Fighting Chance. This time around, organisers from Empire Fighting Chance and Bitton Road Runners hope to welcome around 800 to the streets of Keynsham for the second installment of the re-vamped local road race.

“This year we hope to engage even more of the Keynsham community, and would love to see more local residents get involved – whether you’re running, volunteering or spectating, we want you to be part of this amazing event which is raising money to help vulnerable young people in Bristol and surrounding areas.” Sophie Birch, Events Fundraiser.

World-famous international track and field athlete – and Bristolian – Nick Rose, will start the race. He is a former world record holder for the 10K and Half Marathon distances and represented Britain in the 1980 and 1984 Olympics.

Our sponsor B Block will be keeping the runners and spectators refreshed with food and drinks all morning, and an offer on a ‘Breakfast Pizza’ with coffee, exclusive to Keynsham 10K, to re-fuel runners after the race.

The charity are currently looking for prominent spaces in the local area to display banners to help promote the race. If you can help with offering a location, or would like to get your company involved, email [email protected]

Empire Fighting Chance would like to thank their sponsors and supporters including B Block Pizza, Artworks Solutions, Mobius Works and Bitton Road Runners.
