Please Support Santas On A Bike
November 9th, 2011
Local resident Will Brown has written to us to ask for our help in promoting his annual charity fundraising, which this year is set to benefit the Children s Hospice Southwest at Wraxhall.
Will co-ordinates the annual Santa s on a Bike , which this year takes place on Saturday 3rd December. He is one of many motorcyclists from all over the Southwest who join forces to raise money for children s charities at Christmas.
Money is raised through donations from individuals and local companies. Will has also organised a raffle (tickets available from him – see his number below) with a First Prize of a Glider Flying Lesson, and extra prizes from local companies of B&B accommodation, meals out and vouchers.
Dozens of motorcyclists from Bradley Stoke, Little Stoke, Stoke Gifford and surrounding area are already taking part in the event, but they would love to get more people to take part. Even if you only have a moped or you are on L plates you are more than welcome to join in, as the group does not go on the motorway and always keeps to the speed limit!
Riders will meet at Parry s Lane on the Bristol Downs for 12.30pm, depart from Parry s Lane at 1pm in convoy through Bristol Their route will take them via Blackboy Hill – Whiteladies Rd Park St around the Centre Anchor Rd Hotwells to the Long Ashton Park and Ride. They will then re-group and travel as a group to the Children s Hospice at Wraxhall where they will give their presents to the children at the hospice.
Last year, despite the terrible weather, 136 bikes turned out from all over the South West- raising £7,800 for the Children s Hospice and 90% of the riders were dressed up in a Christmas theme. The riders would welcome anyone to go along to The Downs to see them off. It really is a fantastic sight to see all the Santas leaving on a ride through Bristol to the Children s Hospice.
Little Stoke Gifford Matters hopes that this year s ride will be a hugely a successful day out, and will help some families who are enduring emotions beyond most of our comprehension, to enjoy a brief respite throughout next year.
For further information you can contact Will on 07718 899 049 or go to www.santasonabike.org.uk. The group are unable to accept financial contributions directly so any cheques should be made out to the Children s Hospice Southwest . For information about the Children s Hospice see www.chsw.org.uk.
