Seussical the Musical at Baileys Court Primary

Suessical-April-14There is a real buzz in the air at Bailey s Court Primary School as they prepare for this year s big musical production.

Since early October a group of dedicated teachers and around 50 children from across Key Stage 2 have been learning lines, practising over 25 songs and getting to know dance routines and stage directions ready for the forthcoming performances.    For 3 nights, starting on March 31st, ‘Seussical will be performed on the stage at Bradley Stoke Community School and everyone involved is very excited!!

The success of last year s first ever journey into musical theatre ‘Honk Jnr meant it didn t take long to persuade the adults or the children to put on another one this year, despite the hours of preparation and rehearsals that would be needed. The support of parents and the amazing efforts and commitment from the children have been astonishing and have meant the whole production team can t wait for show time.

‘Seussical is based on the stories of Dr Seuss and tells the story of Jojo, a little boy from Whoville who gets into trouble with his parents for ‘thinking too many thinks! The Cat in the Hat, Horton the elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, The Wickershams, Mayzie and her ‘Bird Girls and a whole host of other characters are featured in this fun and lively musical. Horton even has to sit up a tree and look after a very special egg while worrying about his ‘lost friend from Whoville!

Charlotte Hunter, the producer and director of the show said: ‘Once again the children have exceeded all expectations in learning lines, songs and dances. The dedication and commitment has been tremendous. Through the rehearsal and show process we have seen the children s confidence grow massively and hopefully the experiences they have had will stay with them forever.

The support of so many parents, families and staff has made everyone feel very proud of the fantastic community Bailey s Court is part of. From prop making, costume designing to publicity and ticket sales and then to the people who will support us selling raffle tickets and teas and coffees on the show nights….a MASSIVE thank you from all involved in Seussical.

Good luck to all the cast and crew, all the incredible hard work is about to pay off.

Tickets are available from Bailey s Court Primary School at £6.00 for adults and £4.00 for children.
