Stoke Gifford RBL: “Leaders of the Pack”

ribbon-cut-croppedThe STOKE GIFFORD BRANCH OF THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION is celebrating another successful year! In this, its 85th Anniversary year, the local Branch, which covers Bradley Stoke, Little Stoke, Filton and Stoke Gifford won the RBL Gloucestershire County “Marling Cup ” for most efficient small Branch for the second year running.

We were pleased to be invited down to the launch of the 2013/14 Poppy Appeal at Parkway Station on 25th October. The Stoke Gifford Branch will be putting static tins around its area, and will have shifts of collectors in various stores and shopping centres and in Parkway Station. The Branch will again be supplying its legendary knitted poppies which have been the great hit of recent years, last year it had 3,500 of them, raising thousands for the Poppy Appeal.

leaders-of-the-packThe money raised goes towards the Legion s Welfare Fund and is used to help current and ex service personnel and their families. Currently the Legion is spending £1.7 million a week in help and support, so it needs the continued generous support of the public, businesses, and other organisations to help raise the funding it requires to continue its work. If you or someone you know needs help please contact Terry Webber on 0117 9091486 or Brian Hewitt on 01454 775632.
