THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION BRISTOL POPPY APPEAL

AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Bristol Cathedral and College Green will be the centre point of the fortnight of Remembrance for the Bristol area, where we will create our own version of ‘Flanders Fields’ to Remember and Thank all those who sacrificed so much during WW1 and rebuilt a better nation from its darkest hour.

1 Thousand Poppies for 1 Hundred Years for 1 Million Lives

On Friday 28th September at 11.00 am Johnny Johnson MBE DFM, The Last British Dambuster, will be joined by Serving Members of the Armed Forces in front of Bristol Cathedral to fill the first of 400 sandbags to form a trench around Bristol Cathedral.  The Charfield Yarn Bombers will also be there with some of their beautiful knitted Poppy displays which will be very much part of the Poppy Appeal this year.

We would like to raise at least £30 sponsorship, for each sandbag between the 28th September and the 11th November from businesses/organisations or individuals, which will be labelled with your name. The sandbags will be filled by volunteers from both the public and the military.

We will also be planting 1000 waterproof Poppies on College Green, creating a beautiful and poignant display. Members of the public will be able to have a name added to a Poppy which will be planted in the display in the run up to Remembrance for a minimum donation of £2 to Bristol Poppy Appeal.

To be part of this very special event we are asking people to donate here with their name or the name you wish to remember then share their donation as widely as possible.

The Royal British Legion is the national custodian of Remembrance, safeguarding the memory of those who fought and died in conflict. This is an opportunity to Remember someone special in your life or to give Thanks for those who have given so much for us. The money raised from this project for The Royal British Legion will change lives for the Armed Forces family; whether it goes to fund one of our 6 Care Homes, provides a service family with a much needed break, helps with a crisis such as homelessness or enables a Veteran to be independent by providing an electric mobility vehicle – this type of support along with a huge range of other provision is provided by the generosity of the public and is truly appreciated.
