TJ’s Junior Netball Club

TJ NetballUndaunted by the defeat last Sunday, the TJ s U12 team played in the Avon Junior League again this Sunday.   This time their opponents were Fry s U12 first team, strong opponents.   Based over in Keynsham, Fry s are a long established local club who have several teams in the adult leagues and in all the junior divisions.   In this match, the TJ s U12 team continued to play with enthusiasm and commitment and were now more familiar with what to expect from their opponents.   Fry s were a very tough team however and well used to playing together.   Despite a significant improvement in performance from last week, TJ s lost to Fry 1 although the Fry 1 coach commented that TJ s had given them a very competitive again and the score did not reflect TJ s performance.   Much credit should be given to the TJ s defence of local Bradley Stoke girls Katherine Rolls and Charlotte Baker.   Their interceptions and deflections made the Fry s attack have to work very hard indeed to get their goals.   Charlotte Baker was nominated as player of the match for the second week running and deserved it for her effort and endeavours.

TJ s two U16 teams also played on Sunday with one win and a narrow defeat to Chipping Sodbury in their divisions. Sophie Ryan from TJ s scored   many of the goals that beat Harlequins from Longwell Green.
