The Royal British Legion (Stoke Gifford Branch) is 85 years old this year and they are marking this achievement with a major fund raising event this Sunday 1st September.
The event opens to the public at 10:30 and will remain open until 17:00, access to the event is through the main gates of the Mile Straight Sports and Social Club on New Road (Next to the WISE campus). RBL currently being joined on the day by Patchway, Pilning and Stoke Gifford ACF units 2152 and 2442 Air Cadets, 2624 Squadron of the Royal Air Force, T S Adventure who will be bringing their RIB (I believe that is a Rigid Inflatable Boat but the military may use the Acronym for another meaning!).
Additionally there will be representatives from SITA (who will be displaying and discussing recycling in South Gloucestershire) as well as organisations who provide services to the Royal British Legion, Southern Brooks, Alabere and Merlin Housing Association. There will also be appearances from Dauphine Stage Make up and Wigs as well as Birdcage Vintage Clothing.
The Cats Pyjamas a female singing trio will be performing songs of the 1940s, there will also be a bar open to the public along with Ice Cream and mobile Catering available. Hopefully there will also be Drill displays by some of the Cadets and a marching band in attendance, who will be displaying their Skills.
RBL would like to thank their sponsors who have kindly provided equipment to enable the event to take place, these would be HSS Hire based in Aztec West, and Davan Caravans of Weston Super Mare who have today provided a Caravan as a control centre!
