Update on Stoke Gifford fatalityJanuary 21st, 2016
Update form Avon & Somerset Police this morning, following Tuesday’s tragic accident in Stoke Gifford:
“We’ve charged a man in connection with the fatal road traffic accident in Stoke Gifford. The incident took place at approximately 9.40pm on Tuesday evening on Hatchet Road and involved a car colliding with a pedestrian. Sadly, the victim died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
She has now been formally identified as Megan Brogan, 27, from Welwyn, Hatfield.
Jake Mitchell, 25, of Ratcliffe Drive, Stoke Gifford, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving and failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision. He is due to appear before North Avon Magistrates’ Court this morning (21/01).
The 28-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with this incident has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Sgt Pete Trutch said: “Firstly, I would like to reiterate that all our thoughts are with Megan’s family at this time. Secondly, I would also like to pay tribute to the local community in Stoke Gifford who have rallied around following this incident. We have had a large number of calls from local people with information regarding the collision.
“I would still ask anyone who may have information regarding the incident and has yet to come forward, to do so immediately.”
