Vision 2010 – A Centenary of Girl Guiding Celebrated with Fireworks
October 20th, 2010
If anyone thought that fireworks night had arrived a little early tonight, we can explain! The fabulous show held between the Bradley Stoke Community School and Leisure Centre was The Grand Finale – Vision 2010 – celebrating the end of Girl Guiding UK’s Centenary year. Over 100 girls, leaders (and their parents) from across the Stokeway District converged on the Bradley Stoke Community School to watch the firework display and then retire to the Sports Hall to share birthday cake before joining with other members across the UK in a national network to renew or make their Rainbow, Brownie and Guide promises together at exactly 20:10 on the 20/10 2010.
Amidst much excited chatter, the girls left their parents enjoying cake in the hall whilst they moved into the drama studio in their respective packs, with their leaders, to watch a countdown to this once in a lifetime experience on a big screen. Guiders current and past, young and old were all present to share in this memorable occasion. At ten past eight everyone stood and repeated their promises.
A fantastic evening enjoyed by all the girls … some of which were highly excited to be out so late!
Here’s to another 100 years of Guiding!
Can you still remember Your Promise??
