We Will Remember ThemNovember 8th, 2017
This Sunday (12th November) is Remembrance Sunday. Residents are very welcome to join with any of the local services.
The Stoke Gifford Remembrance Sunday service is held at the Memorial on the Green in North Road Stoke Gifford at 10.15 am. This is a short service, an the act of Remembrance takes place with the laying of wreaths and the 2 minutes silence. Following this outdoor service St Michael’s Church Stoke Gifford has their normal Remembrance Service in St Micheal’s Church, North Road, Stoke Gifford.
The Baptist church in Rock Lane off North Road also has an 11 o’clock service, which members of the RBL attend.
In Bradley Stoke the Bradley Stoke Scout Group will be holding their Remembrance Day Parade marching from the Jubilee Centre to the Willow Brook Centre for the ceremony to start at approximately 10.45 (see attached poster for more information.)
The Filton Remembrance Day Service will be held at St Peter’s Church, Filton. There will be a service in the Church starting at 10 am, with a service at the War Memorial in the church cemetery at 11 am.
Patchway Branch of the Royal British Legion is holding its annual remembrance Parade on 19th November. Muster point for the start of the march will be at Patchway Parade next to Coniston Medical Practice BS34 5TF this will leave at 10.30 sharp, and pressed down Coniston Road to Scott Park BS34 5JR, early attendance is recommended at the muster point. Refreshments will be available at the end of the ceremony, and all are welcome.
Armistice Day: Saturday 11th November – The Stoke Gifford Branch of the Royal British Legion holds Services at 11am at Bristol Parkway Station; Willowbrook Shopping Centre, Bradley Stoke; Sainsbury’s, East Filton and ASDA Filton.
St Peter’s Church Filton will also be holding an Act of remembrance on Saturday 11th November at 11 am.
