Wheatfield Bakes Off for Children in NeedDecember 6th, 2016
Inspired by Bake Off, this year classes 4M and 4H at Wheatfield Primary School decided to try and bake their way to raising a ton of cash for Children in Need.
Many different children were involved in the baking, led by Luke D and Jack P who set the bar high for their quantity of cakes. The classrooms were buzzing as the cakes sold remarkably quickly. Particular favourites were the Pudsey Bear cupcakes! Miss Mills and Mr Hancock confessed to being a little disappointed that none were left over. “We had no cakes left at the end. Even the scrapings of the cake tins were gone,” Miss Mills said.
In all, Year 4 raised £154 which has been donated to Children in Need. Year 4 then also performed their very own Children in Need single as a way of drawing attention to all the great Bristol-based charities that Children in Need supports. In an assembly, they showcased the work of Musicspace, the Jessie May Trust and the Bristol Family Centre for Deaf Children.
As a school Wheatfield managed to raise a grand total of £577!
