Willow Brook Launches Free School Uniform Scheme to Support Local Families

Willow Brook Shopping Centre has launched a new free school uniform scheme to help ease the financial pressures many local families face, while also promoting sustainability through the reuse of good-quality clothing. Following an overwhelming response from the
local community, more than 450 items of school uniform have already been donated.

Thanks to the support of Timpson, all donated items have been professionally cleaned and are now available for families to access free of charge.

The uniforms are displayed in a discreet area of the shopping mall opposite Giant, where anyone in need can browse and take items suitable for their children.

The scheme includes hundreds of branded uniform items from local schools including Wheatfield Primary School, Bradley Stoke Community School, Bowsland Green Primary School, Holy Trinity Primary School, Meadowbrook Primary School, Charlton Wood Primary Academy, St Michael’s Primary School, Bailey’s Court Primary School, Stoke Lodge Primary School, Patchway Community School, Callicroft Primary School, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, St Chad’s Primary School, and Holy Family Catholic Primary School.

There is also a wide range of generic school wear available, including trousers, shorts, skirts, dresses, shirts and jumpers, all in excellent
reusable condition and with plenty of life left in them. Sophie St Leger, the Marketing Manager at Willow Brook said:

“We understand the financial pressures many families are facing, and the cost of school uniforms can be a significant additional burden. By providing free access to clean, good-quality uniforms, we hope to ease some of that pressure and ensure children have everything they need for school. We want the scheme to be accessible, welcoming and dignified for anyone who may benefit from it.”

The project has been a true community collaboration. Bradley Stoke Town Council kindly provided two clothing rails to display the
uniforms, while Timpson generously cleaned donated items, ensuring they are ready for their next owner.

Alongside supporting local families, the initiative also has a strong environmental focus. By encouraging the reuse of school uniforms, the scheme helps prevent perfectly wearable clothing from going to landfill, giving garments a second life and reducing unnecessary waste.

Willow Brook is continuing to welcome donations from members of the public. Anyone wishing to contribute can drop off reusable school uniform items at the uniform donation point located in the Town Square lobby next to the post box.

The shopping centre hopes the scheme will continue to grow, helping even more local families access essential school clothing while strengthening community support and promoting sustainable practices.

Families are welcome to visit the uniform area opposite the Giant store and help themselves to any items they need, completely free of
charge.
