World Thinking Day 22nd FebruaryFebruary 22nd, 2016
Second Stoke Lodge Brownies are celebrating World Thinking Day along with Brownies and Guides all around the world.
The 22nd February marks the birthday of the founder of Scouting, Robert Baden-Powell, and his wife and World Chief Guide, Olave Baden-Powell.
The Unit was thrilled to receive a letter from Her Majesty the Queen as shown in the picture above. Queen Elizabeth II was a Girl Guide and the Brownies wanted to write and congratulate her achievement as the longest reigning monarch. Emma Mitchell wrote a letter to the Queen, which was sent with a card that the Brownies had made with drawings of themselves. The Brownies were thrilled to get a reply from Buckingham Palace thanking them for their letter and card.
Philippa De Pass, Lady-in-waiting to the Queen writes, “The Queen wishes me to thank you for your splendid card and the message you have sent. The Queen was very touched that you made a card, decorated with little pictures of yourselves, especially for her and Her Majesty greatly appreciated the nice things you said. Her Majesty is most grateful for the support, affection and loyalty she has received from the people of this country and the Commonwealth throughout her long reign, and thanks you so much for your thoughtfulness in writing at this time.”Tags: Bradley Stoke, Brownies, Queen, Stoke Lodge, thinking day Back to news
