Hot on the heels of a recent appearance with the Choral Society, Thornbury Orchestra has another treat in store for you. Come and hear some wonderful, tuneful music played live in Thornbury by Thornbury’s own orchestra! The concert includes the vivacious overture Zampa, some of Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances as well as Brahms’ stirring First Symphony, and takes place in Thornbury Baptist Church at 7.30 on Saturday 29th November. Free entry but with a retiring collection in aid of work with women prisoners. So come and support a good cause while having a lovely evening!

10 miles. A climb up Crook Peak & return via Axbridge to Kings Wood on part of Strawberry Line. Contact Ken 01179 315108. Join Severnside Ramblers for some fresh air and exercise, you will also enjoy some great views and hopefully see some wild life. Non-members are always very welcome. For more information about walks in November 2014, log on to www.severnside-ramblers.org.uk, or pick up a programme at your local library. A contact name and telephone number is given for each walk. We meet for Saturday and Sunday walks at Aztec West, Blue Zone Parking area, near the Management Centre, at the times shown for each walk, and share lifts to the start of the walk. Friday Walks, the meeting point is ALDI Car Park Bradley Stoke. Please bring packed lunch and plenty of fluids. If you want to go directly to the start of the walk, please contact the walk leader.

Coppicing in Savage’s Wood and clearing back overhanging vegetation along the brook. All workdays start at 10 am and finish at 4 pm, but you are welcome to leave earlier if needed. Wear old clothes and stout boots and bring a packed lunch. We provide all the equipment needed plus the essential tea, coffee and biscuits! Our usual meeting point is our tool store, which is behind the Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre, Fiddlers Wood Lane, Bradley Stoke, BS32 9BS. If you are coming by car, park in the leisure centre car park. Follow the road behind the centre (past the skate park) through the steel gates and our tool store is the green freight container on the right.
