Bradley Stoke Youth F.C Football Festival Saturday June 8th 2013

The annual BSYFC Football Festival was again played in glorious sunshine at the Jubilee Centre, Bradley Stoke.   The event was again very well supported by all the local schools and the local community.

The 2013 Football Festival was made up of 13 local school teams of Year 1 children with 10 children per school playing in a series of matches in a 7v7 format of 10 minutes duration. The schools attending the event this year were: Almondsbury, St Marys (Bradley Stoke), St Marys (Thornbury), St Peters, St Chads, St Michaels, Iron Acton, Wheatfield, Holy Trinity, Bowsland Green, Olveston, Meadowbrook and Stoke Lodge.

The Football Festival is part of the Schools-Club Link Program that Bradley Stoke Youth FC manages, where FA qualified coaches run football coaching sessions in 14 local schools with Year 1 children prior to the Festival allowing children to experience football in a friendly and fun based environment.   The program this year has coached over 680 children. The club also run coaching sessions in at 4 local school with Year 3 and 4 girls. This program in 2013 has coached over 140 girls. So in total for 2013 the club has coached over 820 children in their schools.

All the Year 1 children participating in the Festival each received a medal and a goody bag.   All the schools won large cups with the top three teams winning a full set of football team kit and the 4th and 5th placed teams winning equipment packages.

The Best Teachers Awards and coaching equipment were awarded to: Iron Acton and St Marys (Thornbury)

The Festival and the school coaching program has been running for seven years and is supplied free of charge by Bradley Stoke Youth FC.   The club would like to thank our sponsors McDonalds, Hewlett Packard, Bradley Stoke Town Council, the Gloucestershire Football Association and Andy Baker Associates for supporting us this year.

Bradley Stoke Youth FC in 2013 has again won the GFA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year Award. The club last won this award in 2011.   This highlights the clubs dedication to the local community and the service we provide to the area.

Since Sept 2012 Bradley Stoke Youth FC has been running football coaching to children with disabilities as we continue to grow and develop our coaching services to the community. We are a nominated football service provider on the National Autistic Society (NAS) web site.
