Bradley Stoke Cricket Clubs Weekend Results

Bradley Stoke 1st lost their second game in a row to top of the table YMCA at the pavilions. After losing the toss on a boiling hot afternoon Bradley Stoke were asked to field by the visitors who started strongly with openers Wayne Butler and Keith Milsom scoring 40 and 37 respectively. Bradley Stoke managed to lower the run rate and make in-roads into the YMCA batting order with the introduction of the spinners Wayne Passmore (3/37) and Steve Davis (5/48) before tail ender Jacob Spence smashed a quick 60 to help YMCA to a defendable 219. After losing an early wicket, opener Joe Coles (59) and Captain Dan Peachey (44) put together a partnership of just over a hundred to put Bradley Stoke in a strong position. But as in the first innings the introduction of spinners changed the game, Dave Shufflebotham (6/35) and Hitesh Shah (2/59) removed the bulk of the Bradley Stoke batting order before Seamer Rich Williams finished the job leaving Bradley Stoke 40 runs short on 179ao.

The 2nds were away at YMCA in a top of the table clash in the 2nd xi senior division. Bradley Stoke who were top of the table batted first and made a below par 171 all out in 44 Overs. Lee Kelford top scored for Bradley Stoke with 44 not out before running out of batting partners. C Yeo was the pick of the YM bowlers with figures of 3/43.   The total put up by Bradley Stoke was always likely to be difficult to defend on a dry pitch and quick outfield and this proved to be the case as YMCA cruised home with 5 overs to spare.   George Bacon top scored with 40 for YMCA and Chris Phillips was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/32.

The third team were away at Blaise Castle against Bristol United Banks. With the home side struggling for numbers this was always likely to go in Bradley Stokes favour as they dismissed United Bank s eight players for 81 with youngster David English taking 3 wickets. Bradley Stoke made short work of the chase and had the match sewn up in the 18th over with Greg Wentland top scoring with 39 not out.
