BSpoke16 – Local Art for Local People

catherine williamsArt trails have sprung up all over Bristol and they have successfully put communities in touch with creative people locally, but so far not in this area.  As a response an exhibition has been arranged – the first of its kind here – to display local talent to local people.

Exhibitors include Printmakers, Hand cut art, Glass makers, Reclaimed wooden sculptures, Jewellers and Enamellers and other inspired craftspeople.

Some of these artists sell their work in galleries all over the country and they are exhibiting together for the first time.

The  aim is to attract as many people as possible to come and see the selection of bespoke handmade objects and artworks being produced locally and have a chance to talk to the creators about their inspirations.

Refreshments will be available.

List of exhibitors

“Mustard Cuts”: Intricate cutting and a flair for design result in these beautiful images – delicate work inspired by nature.

“Ian Knight”: Printmaker specialising in letterpress art. A dying art that fewer and fewer people are able to do using techniques which have become increasingly rare. The results are amazing.

” Gillian Harkness”: Silver jewellery with inspiration from nature. Fine tuned skills produce these delicate pieces. The framed silver pieces are remarkable.

“Wood Pigeon”: Reclaimed wood used to make these fun yet stylish Christmas trees – ultra contemporary artificial trees.

“Catherine Williams”: Established artist using printmaking to create harmonious representations of local places. More recently Pen and Ink drawings representing places of interest.

“Peter Harkness”: Creating lathed wooden pens, using the natural properties of wood to enhance the designs.

“Sarah Davis”: Creating something beautiful in glass. Stained glass art inspired by nature and children.

“Mary Macdonald”: Beautifully strong, yet simple contemporary jewellery.

More makers will be there on the day.

We are hoping that a successful exhibition will put BS16 on the creative map!
