Charity Music Concert Raises £337 for Children in Need

A Charity Music Concert was held at the Bristol Civil Service Sports Club in Horfield on 16th November which  was attended by 102 people and raised £337 for Children In Need.

FAB 208 provided excellent music for the evening and thanks goes to the lead band member Mr John Hughes and co for an unforgettable night of classic 70 s hits.

People arrived for the music concert at the club following last year s successful event which raised funds for Ronald McDonald House in Bristol.  Cllr Brian Mead of Filton opened the night to FAB 208 and  coordinated the evening along side, Mr Glen Wintle.

A charity raffle took place mid-way through the evening which was well supported and supplied with 40 prizes from businesses and members of the Civil Service club.  There was also an extra added surprise when the club’s very own Dusty Bear made a guest appearance due to Pudsey being called to the BBC!  Dusty Bear handed all the prizes out to the winners and even received  a few cuddles along the way.

Businesses which donated prizes for the charity raffle included: the FAB 208 band / The Civil Service Club, Giacomo Licata Barber, Terry’s Barber Shop, Jolly Fryer Fish & Chip Shop, Charcoal Grill, Akash, India Restaurant, Real Brazil Restaurant all on Filton Avenue, Antonios Barber on Gloucester Road, Watershed Cinema  and the Fleet Air Arm Museum – RNAS Yeovilton.  Bristol Ticket Shop provided the tickets at discount price for selling.  Bristol Rovers FC advertised the event in their match day programme.

Bradley Stoke & Little Stoke Gifford Matters placed the event in their magazines and on the website.  Filton Matters, Filton Voice and The Filton Journal also advertised on their Websites.

Everyday Occasions, The Party Shop on Filton Avenue provided  free raffle books and free delivery of yellow balloons for the evening.

A big thanks goes to all the volunteers who helped with the arrangements for the event and on the night to make it special for all involved.
