Fundraising Success for Business Studies Students

We are delighted to update viewers on the outcome of the Fundraising Challenge given to a group of 7 BSCS students studying the Higher Diploma in Business, Administration and Finance at Patchway Community College. At the beginning of the Autumn term, the group of Year 10 students were given seed money of just £10 and challenged to turn it into £500 for The Princes Trust by the end of December.

The small but highly motivated team ran a fantastic Christmas Fayre at Patchway Community College earlier this month, raising money from stallholders, from entrance costs, refreshments, games and a beautiful grotto which they decorated themselves. Overheads were kept to a minimum, with the generous support of Starbucks who provided the coffee and from friends and family who provided decorations. The enterprising pupils contacted Matters Magazines in time to include their publicity in the December edition of Little Stoke Gifford Matters – and even arranged to have the event mentioned on TV by Richard Angwin during the local weather forecast.

As a result of all the planning and hard work put in by the students, they raised an impressive £480 for The Prince’s Trust – just £20 short of their target. They have the last week of term to try to make up the difference and we wish them the very best of luck!
