Good wishes and prayers to the Queen

Bradley Stoke Town Council wishes Her Majesty, The Queen a swift recovery from Covid and a rapid return to vibrant good health.

Recently on Queen Elizabeth’s 70th anniversary of the accession to the throne, the Bradley Stoke Town Council specially congratulated Her Majesty. This year is a historic year since Queen Elizabeth II is the first British monarch to celebrate a platinum jubilee.

The Mayor paid honours to the Queen’s inspirational sense of duty and unwavering commitment throughout seven decades of her reign. Queen’s wisdom led this country out of many difficult times; ensured stability and continuity of constitutional democracy and enabled the UK to get stronger and more united. Her Majesty’s dedication and service to the country, the Commonwealth, and the world is a shining example of the role of a monarch in today’s world.

To commemorate the Queen’s accession and as part of the National Flag Day, Mayor of Bradley Stoke Cllr Tom Aditya hoisted a new Union Jack at the flagpole in the Queen’s Jubilee Green. The flag-raising ceremony was attended by Town Clerk Sharon Petela. The importance of the Flag Day as a symbol of national unity and pride was recalled and the National Anthem was solemnly sung.

Mayor Tom Aditya and Deputy Mayor Tony Griffiths attended the special Festal Evensong service to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee at the Bristol Christ Church, along with Her Majesty Queen’s Lord Lieutenant, Peaches Golding CBE and High Sheriff, Susan Davies. The jubilee service led by Rt. Rev. Canon John Simpson of the Diocese of Bristol was very thoughtful, graceful, and beautiful. The Councillors and staff decided to send a special congratulatory greetings card and a letter to the Queen on behalf of the Town.

The Mayor will be planting 7 tree saplings (one for each decade) in the grove, to celebrate the Queen’s platinum anniversary. The Town Council have decided to jubilantly celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee twinned with Bradley Stoke 2022 Community Festival during the first week of June (3rd to 5th of June). We look forward to this summer when we will be able to come together more vigorously to celebrate the Queen’s historic reign.

The Bradley Stoke Town Council wish the Queen many years to reign over us and to be loved and respected by all. God save our gracious Queen, and keep her victorious, happy, healthy and glorious!
