Gorgeous afternoon in the sun at St Michaels Primary School

This year’s summer fayre at St Michaels Primary School was an extra special event for their 150th  Anniversary to thank and celebrate with the Community. On a gorgeous, sunny Saturday (13th) the events included many of the usual activities; Bouncy Castle, Penalty Shoot Out, Go Karts (one home made by Miles Reynolds-Cole), raffles, refreshments, face painting, tattoos, colouring, nerf shots, teddy tombola, Geocaching, a hog roast and a BBQ.

An arena was set up on the field for children to show off their talents in the form of dance routines, maypole dancing, singing, violin solo, recorder duet, accordion and a magic show.

Mark Freeman, Head Teacher told us,   ‘When the school started in 1863 no-one can have imagined how the local area would have changed over time – with most of these changes happening in recent years.   Although the landscape may have altered quite fundamentally, I hope that our core aims as a school – to educate, celebrate, communicate and cooperate – still echo those of the past, and will stand the test of whatever the future may bring.   I d like to thank everyone who has helped organise the events – it has been a fantastic team effort.   Days like today are a wonderful example of how our community works so well together, providing memorable and enjoyable experiences for all of us.

The celebrations went on into the evening with a Barn Dance and hogroast followed by a disco.
