Inspection Report on the Ofsted website 28th April 2014
April 30th, 2014
Standards of achievement are improving rapidly say inspectors who visited Meadowbrook Primary School in Bradley Stoke during March 2014. The inspection team recognised the strengths of the school which have been the foundations of its progress in recent years. These included the good behaviour of the children at Meadowbrook and the good leadership and effective governance at the school.
Mr Jon Barr, headteacher at the school said , Meadowbrook Primary School has been on a journey of improvement since I became headteacher. We would have liked the overall judgement to have been about the children currently in the school as we know the good standards we are now achieving. The inspection team recognised that in the past our results have required improvement and could see the strong actions we have taken to get to where we now are.
Mrs Claire Wingate, chair of governors at the school, said. We are proud of what our children and staff have achieved at the school. Ofsted recognised the active role our governing body has taken and continues to take in making sure we keep on improving.
One area that the report highlighted was Meadowbrook Primary School children s strength in information and communication technology. In the same week as the report arrived at the school Mr Barr was informed that Mr Matt Smith, a teacher at the school, has been named a finalist in the Pearson Teaching Awards 2014. He is a finalist in the Outstanding Use of Technology category.
Mr Barr stated, Across the last three years we have attracted a number of very talented teachers to our staff who have played a big part in our improvement. Matt has led our innovative use of iPads in our classrooms. That leadership has increased our children s achievement in writing and mathematics as well as giving them technical skills which will inspire further successful learning.
