Judo Training Day for enthusiasts with special needs
August 24th, 2013
Judo enthusiasts with special needs will be given the chance to join an open Judo Training Day organised by British Judo at the Active Leisure Centre in Bradley Stoke.
The training day will be run by Ken Thorne and Stephen Westlake, coaches at the Bradley Stoke Special Needs Judo Club from 9.30am to 4.00pm on 24th August with an entry fee of £10.
The open day is an opportunity for judo enthusiasts of all levels of disabilities and special needs to have an insight into the sport and meet members of the British Judo Association s Inclusion commission team.
Steve Westlake said: The open day is designed for judo enthusiasts to get a taste for the sport and try something new, who otherwise would not have the chance. No matter what your level of ability or skill our training session is an opportunity to try something new.
Ben Beasley, Director of Commercial Development for Circadian Trust who operate Active Centres, added: Steve does a fantastic job coaching the Special Needs Judo Club. We are always excited to host events that encourage people to try new sports.
Active Leisure in Bradley Stoke recently benefited from a £115,000 makeover which saw improvements to the gym and hall facilities and was open by five-time British Judo Champion, and coach at Bradley Stoke Judo Club, Pete Douglas.
The eight Active Leisure Centre sites throughout South Gloucestershire are operated by the not-for-profit social enterprise Circadian Trust.
