Little Stoke & District Ladies Club

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at Little Stoke Baptist Church and have a variety of events.

One of our recent meetings, we were lucky enough to have some sea shanty singers called ‘Storm Force Shanty’ who sang out some excellent ditties. They were very entertaining and we all joined in with the ones we recognised, which was a lot of fun.

Our next meeting was an auction where our members brought along unwanted gifts and other members bidded for them. It was a very social occasion with a lot of banter!   We were then treated to a visit by The Fire Service who discussed fire safety in the home and gave us all something to think about and we are all going to make sure we don’t leave electrical appliances on and running when not at home, as well as not overloading extension cables!  The visit was cut short when they ahd to leave to answer a call !

In March, we had the Red Dress on display for International Womens Day (photo above). Jenny James and Bradley Stoke Mayor, Natalie Field were in attendance and Jenny gave us an informative talk about empowering women.  Our AGM is held at the end of March and we enjoyed a light supper. In April we enjoyed some keep fit using a chair with Michelle.  This was all done to up beat music and our chair was our prop. We also had some scarves and exercise bands. Everyone enjoyed this very much. At our second April meeting we had the Fab twins who are not twins but friends and they played 60s and 70s music . At our May meeting one of our member Molly showed us how to put on a sari which is quite complicated.

Future events to look forward to over June and July include a genealologist, a talk on kestrels and a singing duo. We also have some events planned outside of our twice monthly events such as a visit to Babbacombe, a skittles night and a bee keeping experience .

New members are always very welcome – we would love you to join us. If you are interested in coming along, please contact Julie on 0117 9315 007 or see our facebook page.
