St Michael’s Church Centre, Stoke Gifford, Marks 10 Years of Community Impact

This June, St Michael’s Church Centre in Stoke Gifford is celebrating a significant milestone: 10 years since the Centre first opened its doors to the congregation and wider community.
Opened in April 2015, the Centre has since become a vital and vibrant space serving a wide range of functions — from regular church services and Christian events to hosting community meetings, charity gatherings, seminars, and corporate functions. Over the past decade, the Centre has welcomed thousands of people through its doors, serving as a place of faith, connection, and practical support.
In the years following its opening, the Centre has seen a series of upgrades and expansions, including the addition of seminar rooms, tiered seating in the Auditorium, and state-of-the-art AV equipment — all aimed at enhancing the experience of those who use the space.
To mark this 10-year anniversary, a celebration will take place on Saturday 14 June 2025, beginning with a time of reflection in the Auditorium. This moment of gratitude will honour those who contributed to the Centre’s journey — from its initial vision and construction through to its development and daily running.
The celebration will also include an opportunity to explore the building and view displays showcasing the Centre’s history and ongoing work. It will be a meaningful moment for members of the St Michael’s community — past and present — including congregation members, staff, trustees, contractors and other contributors, to reconnect and reflect on the Centre’s story so far.
Alongside the Centre’s continued use and development, the historic church building — an iconic landmark in Stoke Gifford — remains a well-loved and well-used part of church life. Plans are currently underway for a refurbishment of the church building, which will include the installation of a toilet and levelled flooring, enhancing accessibility and comfort while preserving its cherished character.
“This anniversary is a chance to reflect with thankfulness on all that has taken place in and through St Michael’s Church Centre over the last decade,” said Revd Canon Simon Jones, Rector, St Michael’s Church “The Centre stands as a testimony to the vision, generosity and service of so many people.”
As St Michael’s looks to the future, the Centre and church together remain committed to the shared purpose of serving both church and community — as places of welcome, witness and transformation.
