UKIP Filton & Bradley Stoke Pledge to fight for the re-opening of Highwood Road

Cllr Ben Walker the Parliamentary Candidate for Filton & Bradley Stoke has released his commitment, along with fellow UKIP council candidates to the re-opening of Highwood Road.

Local residents and businesses will recall a number of failed petitions to keep the road open and then cross party support at South Gloucestershire Council for the road to remain closed, despite hundreds of local people attending meetings in support for the road to be opened to all motorists.

Cllr Ben Walker said;

“Our team has been canvassing for well over a year now and the resounding message we hear time and time again is that residents, not only from Patchway want this road re-opened to motorists. Voters have been badly let down by councillors and council officers who have bludgeoned this closure through in favour of developers, not local people. In May we hope to have more UKIP councillors elected to South Gloucestershire Council so we can begin to challenge this decision in the interests of people not policy ”.

UKIP have also launched a new online petition to support the re-opening of the road and urge all residents of South Gloucestershire who believe this road should never have been closed to support it.

Its closure has had direct impact on local business, residents, created additional traffic on minor roads in Patchway and higher omissions by forcing motorists into longer routes. It s a short sighted decision and demonstrates the continued failure by councillors from all parties to be able to represent the electorate in a fair, transparent and unbiased way on matters that are important to them. For too long these councillors have neglected the areas they represent and it s time for a change.

Please sign our petition to re-open the road.
